The Mindset Shift That Changes Everything: Why Clarity Comes Before Action

My four‑year‑old loves playing with his farm, dinosaurs, cars, and Lego. And without fail, the moment I’m preparing for a meeting, rushing dinner, or finishing the last tasks of the day, he’ll ask, “Can you PLAY?” My automatic response was always, “Not now.”

But the “no” never felt good. I realized he wasn’t just asking me to play—he was asking to be seen, heard, and connected with. And in those moments, I wasn’t truly present. I was living ahead of myself, always in the next task, the next responsibility.

That’s when it hit me: clarity comes before action. Before choosing what to do, I needed clarity on what actually mattered.

So now, even if it’s just five minutes, I stop. I sit. I play. I choose presence over productivity. And suddenly, everything feels clearer.

Where in your life can you be more present? Who—or what—is asking for your attention right now?

Clarity begins the moment you pause long enough to see what truly matters.
